Hello!

Erica from KAB here! We just kicked off our first show of the traveling photography exhibition, Shot In The Pit with the talented Erin Caruso. It was incredible! We are in New York City at this years CMJ. It was a long night but wonderful. There were hundreds of people packed in Fontana's Bar in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, anxiously awaiting the late night show with Trash Talk and The Bronx! It was great to have The Bronx be a part of this showcase, not only because we love them and they are an amazing group of gentlemen, but we have two beautiful photos of them in this collection that will be auctioned off Novemeber 26- Dec 6th! We are very thankful to have worked with Solid PR, 1000 Knives The Syndicate, Fox & Unite the United to make this show perfection.

sidenote....we got into town and were able to make it to The Syndicate's pre party for CMJ where the ...Trail of the Dead & Margot and the Nuclear So & So's were playing. It was a great night and really got us going for the rest of the week here in NYC!

The Renegade Rollergirls of Bend Oregon have teamed up with the Keep A Breast Foundation to put on a unique art showing. This will be held at Oxygen Tattoo/ Art Gallery during the First Friday Artwalk downtown Bend from 6-10. Renegade boobies have been cast and local artists have turned them into pieces of art. Silent auction of pieces with all proceeds going to the Keep A Breast Foundation.

My friend Jennifer's mom Phyllis Borba of Xanadu Salon, sold 200 of the KAB "I love boobies" bracelets in less than 2 hours! at The Hanford County Chili Cook off last weekend.

She is determined to have everyone in Hanford wearing our bracelets by the end of October :)

We’re down to the second to last day of tour-and of course I’m asking myself where this summer has gone. You know how the last part of high school, right before you graduated seemed really fun? All the cliques dispersed and everyone became friends? Even though most of this readership might not be able to drive yet-trust me the end of high school gets really fun. Well that’s how the last few shows of Warped Tour are. You forget the 116 degree days in Phoenix and gnarly venues and the long lines in catering because all I can think about is the awesome people I’ve had the opportunity to meet this summer. And I remember that I won’t be able to wake up and step into a different city every morning and hang out with some of my best friends.

This summer has been amazing for me even though it seems like a big blur right now. The obvious highlights were when I turned 24 in Dallas, Texas and celebrated at midnight at the Double Wide and then ended my birthday watching Andrew W.K. in Austin, Texas. Getting a matching Golden Girls tattoo with Erica and Jeneatha in Mountain View, Ca-thanks Oliver. I’ve been able to discover some new bands that I absolutely adore-Pinkertones, 3Oh!3, Gil Mantera’s Party Dream were definitely my top three.

The most rewarding part of the summer has been working for Keep A Breast and assisting the lovely Erica Leite. Erica is one of those amazing people who can look radiant and be ready for anything-even though we’re all running on no sleep. If the world took a lesson from her, we’d all be more polite and smile more and honestly, be more passionate about everything around us. Think about it for a second. Keep a Breast is such an interesting organization that has chosen to target a demographic that is often overlooked with breast cancer. We are committed to the eradication of the disease through early detection. I have had the opportunity to speak with so many different people who have been affected by breast cancer in one form or another this summer. While it may seem heartbreaking and frustrating, I realize that the ladies of Keep A Breast, Shaney and Erica, are doing some amazing things with this organization. Keep on fighting the good fight and I couldn’t thank all of you enough for making it a great summer.

YAY!!! We got to see one of our dearest friends from the road today, miss Tiff! She is always a bundle of joy and always volunteers in the tent when she is near. She is a little ray of sunshine! The day was very busy, very fun!!! Another treat for the tour today is that Motion City Soundtrack joined us for the rest of the tour. I am so excited to have them around!

Today was day two of having our wonderful videographers here! Unfortunately they were not able to film all day due to the rules at that particular venue. We still had a great day though. Busy as could be in the tent. We were near the Skull Candy Mix Tent again and were able to catch the Massive Monkey’s, an amazing break dancing crew that has been touring with us all summer. We were graced with a performance by Shanti in our tent again and she gave a little lesson to one of the girls in the tent as well…what a treat!

Today is an exciting day for us! We have a couple videographers that are friends of the dear Carol Martori, that came out to film a few videos for KAB. That is it. The warped tour is done for this Year. Erica can finally go back home and rest. Thank you so much Carson, and to everyone that went to the Keep A Breast Tent during those crazy 2 and a half months. Thank you guys for all your donations and for buying tee shirts, stickers, and bracelets to help us sprend the word about awareness. There were so many of you Yesterday in Carson, it was absoluty amazing. This last tour date included the extra KAB soldiers, Shaney jo, Lisa, girls from LA, Claire, Baptiste, Renaud, Simon and Sasha. We are really pleased to announce you that we raised over $45,000 for Breast Cancer awareness during the 2008 warped tour. This is Crazy. Thank you soo much! I'd like to give a special thank you to Erica and Shaney that got the 2 frenchies on stage for the Angels & Airwaves Show!

July 30th Cincinnati, OH

Today we are right next door to a water park so many people on the tour are taking a nice long break to take a dip in the pool. Katie and I were good little girls and stayed put in the tent to hang with everyone that came out to the show. We were near the Take Action area with all of the non profit organizations, so that was a nice treat for us. We were able to be near our friends that work with the Warped Eco Initiative as well as Invisible Children.

PS…apparently this entire tour thinks that I am a hairstylist now. It’s funny because I have never properly learned how to cut hair nor style it, however I have given about 20 hair cuts to some of whom may be your favorite musicians.

Today is a good day for Katie! She is from Pittsburgh so had heaps of family and friends at the show today. We also still have our amazing volunteers Gail, Jenna and Ellen that have been following the tour for a while now. It was a busy day and fun! We were set up next to the Kevin Says stage which is wonderful for two reasons… First, we get to see Shanti play her entire set and second, the entire stage is solar powered! How rad is that?!?!? In my personal opinion, I feel we should have all of the tents solar powered. We also got a quick show from the guys in Say Anything and Reel Big Fish in the Rock Band tent, otherwise known as Reel Big Anything….check them out below!

Woke up today in a great mood, not that I normally do not, however, it was particularly delightful!! We had a great spot for set up today right by both main stages. We had our usual visitors in the tent today, Jake from Mayday Parade, Shanti and her husband Greg from the Bouncing Souls, Alexander T Kent and Parker from Say Anything! When all of these people come in for visits it perks us all up! About mid afternoon we were hit with a crazy storm right after Reel Big Fish’s set. We went from about 20 kids in the tent to 150 in about 30 seconds! It poured on us for a good 45 minutes and the entire was on hold… The sun then began to shine through & the show was back on again! Later that evening we were lucky enough to have Reel Big Fish play for the crew & bands at the BBQ. It was amazing! They playing for a good 3 hours or so it felt! There was also a Monster party that our lovely and talented friend Shanti bartended at.

July 26th, Uniondale, NY (Long Island, NY)

I woke up today, knowing it was going to be great! New York! I love it! We were graced with the presence of one of our favorite bands early on today, Envy on the Coast. These are some of the best guys that we know and some of the biggest supporters of KAB. They hung out with us in the morning for a couple of hours in the Girlz Garage…they had to soon take off because they were getting surrounded by their fans constantly. They are all doing really well and it was wonderful to see them all. It was of course a ridiculously busy day with, I am sure, well over twenty thousand people. Heaps of industry people were out from managers to booking agents and label reps…..busy, busy, busy! We also had the very talented Brian Reddy as our guest artist today! We were also given the opportunity to have Shanti & Greg come play in our tent….which all of us always love!

KAB on Warped Boston - Phily

July 22nd, Boston, MA

The past two days have been great. We have had the two days off to relax and recoup. Yesterday we relaxed in the hotel room, went to a mall that was very unexciting, however Katie and I were able to find some great buys! I think Katie spent all the money she had on eight dresses…or something close to that. In the early evening we took a train into the city, went out for sushi then went to bed. We woke up fairly early today and Erin Caruso came to pick us up and take us to one of her favorite places to go out for brunch. We had the most lovely day, eating, shopping and checking out what Boston has to offer. We met up with some friends in Say Anything and Against Me later that evening and had the best time relaxing and yapping about all that we are up to on this crazy tour. It was a great night and a good break between two long stretches of the tour.

July 25th Camden, NJ (Philidelphia)

The entire tour gets fairly excited about the Philadelphia date (Camden, NJ)…just a quick ferry ride across the river to get into the city. We were excited for several reasons today! We got the pleasure of having all of the Spencer’s people out to see what we do on the Warped Tour. They have been very supportive of Keep A Breast and the I heart Boobies wristbands are a tour favorite! Everyone LOVES them!!! The show was crazy busy with heaps of people visiting our tent. We were placed in front of the main stages so it was super loud all day long and a bit more difficult to talk to all of the visitors to the tent.
We also had the pleasure of having our good friend, Brendan Ekstrom from Circa Survive, come out and visit us for the day. It was so wonderful to have him out. Later after the show, I gave our friend Max Bemis a haircut then Brendan surprised me and took me to see She & Him! Such a great band and I was thrilled to see them play. I was missing the annual cornhole (bean bag) tournament that Oliver Peck puts on. I got back in time for the very end….

The 2008 Warped tour in San Diego was totally sick for Keep A Breast. As the KAB team got bigger for this special tour date, including, Shaney Jo, Erica, Katie, Erin Caruso, Claire, Maria, Ponce and the two frenchies, Baptiste and Renaud, we wanted to thank all of you guys for coming in force at the Girlz Garage tent. Thank you so much for all your donations and the interest you gave to The Keep a Breast Foundation, and more generally to the global breast cancer problem. It was a real pleasure to help you guys understanding why prevention is so important to avoid the worst. Many of young girls asked questions about breast cancer all day long, and wanted to know more about this disease; that is great, our all work seemed to be really efficient and this is helping us doing it the right way. Yesterday, was also the premiere of this really nice Photo-on-wood exibition, "SHOT IN THE PIT" by Erin Caruso the 2008 Warped Tour Pit Reporter. The photos will be auction on ebay by September 1st for to benefit Keep A Breast and Unite the United (more info. soon). Thanks again for everything San Diego, The bands, and the warped tour organization.

Warped Tour Montreal!!

Today was beautiful! I was scared a bit at first because this venue is usually very dusty and dirty…and this makes it very hard to breathe because of all of the yucky stuff in the air. However, it had been raining in Montreal days prior so all of the dirt was hardened and made the day quite pleasurable. It was very loud though, we had several stages surrounding us making it just sound like a bunch of crazy loud noise. This venue has an absolutely breath taking view of the city of Montreal from across the river. Its amazing…one of my favorites. We had visitors all day today as well….Lisa from Label Networks whom is a frequent visitor of the Girlz Garage popped by again as well as our dear friend Mike who tour manages Protest The Hero. We had several wonderful locals visit and want to lend a helping hand with Keep A Breast. This is wear our new Music For Awareness campaign begins to play a roll. We have been promoting the new MFA campaign all summer and everyone seems to be very interested in it. We love our volunteers and are excited when new people want to help out.
Overall the day was wonderful. We were attempting going into the city to check it out, however we just ended up hanging with the rest of the tour at the BBQ after the show. We got to hang with our good friends in Say Anything and Reel Big Fish…such wonderful people.

Warped Tour Toronto!

July 19th, just outside of Toronto, ON

Today was a rough one for me. I work up terribly sick and not wanting to get out of bed one bit. I rarely get very sick, but oh man, when I do, it really gets me. I was in tears half the morning until I pumped myself with enough tea, and Tylenol to get me through. On the lighter side of things, Odette Matha, who will be representing KAB in Canada, came to the show along with fellow artist and KAB friend Jeffery as well as returning guest artist, Jon Todd. It was shaping up to be a beautiful day. Toronto is another one of my favorite cities..and even though we were not quite in the city, we were still blessed with all of the beautiful people and good friends that came out for the day. I created a couple of casts with Odette and showed her how to create a cast as Shaney has always done. I was he test model, and it was great. She did a very good job learning how to cast. We ended the day with a crazy storm that blew through the site. It was crazy how fast it came down. We closed everything down then went back to dinner and have a relaxing evening. Katie and I ended up hanging with the 3oh!3 crew and watched a movie…and of course I fell asleep. ☺

Warped Tour - Detroit!

Today was wonderful and had a few sneaky surprises in store for all of the Warped family and fans. We had the pleasure of having Chiodos join us for the day. It was great to see some good friends out in Warped world again. Derrick spent much of the morning with Katie and I in the Girlz Garage, reminiscing on past Warped tours and catching up on everything in between. All of the guys in Chiodos are such great supporters of Keep A Breast and always have been. Pat was even wearing one of the Mantra tees today! We had great placement today with our tent and we were right next to one of the main stages. SO we had people filling the tent all day long. I always love spending time in Detroit. I find that the people are always quite pleasant and I always receive good, positive energy from the city.

Pemberton festival 2008.
Rolling Stone exclaimed that "the first annual Pemberton Festival will gladly take the title of next Glastonbury." and Keep A Breast was happy to be there for the official launch of Keep A Breast Canada. That's right! KAB is now a Canadian non-profit organization. We were invited by Emergen-C to also launch Emergen-C PINK! ( the flavor that benefits KAB). This flavor has been selling in the US since last October and has raised $100,000 to date for KAB!! Pemberton was an amazing event from top to bottom, I'm excited that our first big event in Canada was received so well. This weekend is KAB MANIA WEEKEND. so much going on. I'll try to give you reports as we go, but internet is limited.
This is what's going on.

*Shea( KAB team manager ) and Renaud ( KAB French affiliate) will be heading up the KAB tent in the TRANSWORLD SURF JUNGLE!
as the US OPEN OF SURFING. go and see them if you are there. They will have many members of the KAB SURF team onsite.

*Jeepers! is happening in SD. This is your chance to see the 5 foot tall boobies! sculpture painted live by KMNZ_Z and EKUNDAYO.

*I will be in Canada at the Pemberton festival. KAB will have a huge tent! onsite at the festival with Emergen-C PINK! We are officially launching the Pink Lemonade Emergen-C in Canada as well as this is our official launch of KEEP A BREAST CANADA. Look to the side bnar of this blog for the official KAB Canada blog.

I have some very exciting news!
Keep A Breast is going to be going on tour with the band Maintain Composure as part of our Music For Awareness campaign!
I will be the first one to tell you that these guys are not only dedicated to their music, but they are fully dedicated to doing whatever is possible to help out Keep A Breast.
These guys have helped us out in the past...

& most recently, they drove 6 hours from Dayton, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois to meet me for the Zumiez Couch Tour....arriving at 4 a.m. and only getting 2 hours of sleep on the floor, and they still were amazing volunteers that day.
I will be tagging along with them, running the education booth at each show, and selling Keep A Breast merch!

Warped Tour DENVER pics!

June 20th, Day Off after Denver, CO

Hello all! So we just had a coulple of the best days on tour! Salt Lake City was amazing. Heaps of show goers coming in and out. We had a signing with Mayday Parade, check pics below of all of the ladies in the Girlz Garage with the band! Protest the Hero are regular visitors at the KAB booth in the Girlz Garage as well and we love this metal band from Canada! Another favorite is DJ Skeet whos is DJing for Schwayze on the tour this summer! We are helping him sell some of his tanks and he is going to be donating 25% to Keep A Breast! We also have been able to hook up a lot of bands like, Say Anything, Cobra Starship, Amberlin and Protest the Hero with awesome threads from Fox Clothing!

After the show in Denver on the 30th, we hosted an official Vans Warped Tour Keep A Breast party! It was AMAZING!!!!!!!! Thanks to Soda Jerk Presents and Suburban Home Records Vinyl Collective for helping out! Because of them, we were donated a 44 passenger bus as well as a 33 passenger limo bus to transport people to and from the Warped Grounds to the club all night long. We had an incredible line up of DJ's including Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes, Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship, Parker Case & amp, Jake Turner from Say Anything and Scooter, our long time friend and musician from Denver, CO! It was the first party of the summer and one that made everyone on tour want some more!! We had all kinds of people from the tour come along with the bands that were already DJing…we had Norma Jean, Street Dogs, The Higher, Forever The Sickest Kids, Reel Big Fish, Amberlin, Every Time I Die, Alesana, Beat Union, 3Oh!3, Set Your Goals, Mayday Parade, We the Kings and the list goes on and on…

The past two show days in Phoenix and New Mexico were great but so hot! In Phoenix, my other team member, Katie Lockley, who will be helping out in the KAB booth all summer long arrived! I am so excited to have her for the summer, she will be such a huge help! She is so excited to meet all of you! She took over for the day so I could start casting some of the female artists on the tour. I was able to cast Emily Whitehurst from The Action Design, Charlotte Poland from Charlotte Sometimes and Katy Perry! We were so thankful to have these wonderful and talented ladies donate their time to help a good cause. We will have artists on the tour paint the casts, we will then auction them at the end of the tour to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and prevention.

Hello friends!! Erica here with Keep A Breast! We have just begun our 8th year on the Vans Warped Tour and we are so excited about it. We started off with two pre-production days in Pomona last Wed & Thursday which consisted of a lot of sit around and wait time… It was great to re-unite with old and wonderful friends. I met up with my good friend Erin Gorski that runs the recycling program for the tour, went swimming and simply enjoyed the day. On day two of pre-production, we began to get all of our things organized and had our opening meetings to get all of the new people acquainted with the way things work on tour. In the evening, Shaney Jo Darden, the co-founder of Keep A Breast came and joined us. We went out to the Norma Jean record listening party with the tours Myspace crew as well as the pit reporter for this summer tour, Erin Caruso. We all got a decent amount of hang time in before everything started the morning.
Come Friday morning we were all ready to get on with the show. Set up was a little crazy because there were a few problems with our tent. We were supposed to get a new one but it was made incorrectly so we had to retreat back to the old tent. Set up went fairly smooth and everything looked great in the tent! Since we started out in Pomona, we started out big! It was a fairly busy day but the next two days were even crazier in San Francisco on the pier and Ventura on the beach. Each evening there is a BBQ for the late night eaters & hangs. It’s a great spot to get everyone together and meet some new people on the tour. There seems to be a lot of new people this summer so I am pretty excited to meet as many of them as possible.
After Ventura, we had a day off in San Diego, and I could have gone home however I thought it would just be a tease, so I stayed with everyone else. We went to Target & bought bikes for the summer….I opted for the cruiser rather than the usual cheapie BMX bike I usually buy for the tour. Having a bike helps a lot with those super long hauls from the busses to the lot or field where we set up. Erin Gorski and I took a little walk in the morning and found some batting cages and decided to hit a few rounds of softball. Then later back at the hotel I went swimming with a few others to get some more exercise in. Later that evening there was a bowling tournament held in downtown San Diego that benefited the TJ Martell Foundation for Cancer, Leukemia & AIDS Research. There was an online auction for people to bid on a band to bowl with…there were tons of bands that got into it and helped out including Say Anything, Every Time I Die, Shwayze, Valencia and heaps of others…amongst the bands, there were a few other teams including the Myspace team and my team. We bowled okay but unfortunately didn’t make it to the second round. There was a late night dance party with the Story of the Year guys on there bus back at the hotels. The next day we had a day off in Phoenix, AZ at the most amazing resort . There were three pools and a lazy river! Erin & I jumped off the bus early to get in the pool & start a day of relaxation. We had to soak it up on these two days off because the rest of the tour is not going to be quite as luxurious. The next show day is in Phoenix, so we are trying to prepare ourselves for the heat.
So far al of our volunteers have been wonderful, baring the heat and having a great time. We’ll be updating you all again soon with all kinds of great stories from the road!

Today was the first day of the warped tour.
KAB has been on the warped tour for 8 years. I came up to Pamona to help out for the day. This is Erica's third year on the tour.

ERICA AND ME!!

I have to say... I'm so glad that I was there today. These days I'm normally working in the KAB office, I don't get a chance to be on the road as much as I used to. I miss a lot of the direct contact to the teenagers that KAB is reaching out to. Lately I've been dealing with a lot of "haters". People hating on me for the work I'm doing, other organizations and businesses stealing KAB's ideas and concepts. I've been yelled at a lot lately, I've been called a "kab-a-holic", I've been told "Your fighting a battle you can't win!" I've been feeling pretty down, without much support, like I'm doing this all alone.

Today reminded me that all of the shit talk is really just that! A big pile of shit. Today reminded me of why I do this work everyday. Today I met a young guy, who visited KAB on warped tour last year with his girlfriend, She could not come this year because she stayed home with her mom who has breast cancer. He came by the booth to buy them both tee shirts and just to talk, just to tell me what's going on and what they are going through and to thank me for everything I do, before he left he grabbed me and gave me the biggest hug. I met another teenage girl who came by the booth just get information for her friends. She told me that her mom died of breast cancer when she was only ten years old and that she was going to tell all her friends about KAB and teach them about breast cancer prevention. I also met a mom who brought by her 16 year old daughter just to talk and learn about what they both can do together to stay healthy and prevent breast cancer. Throughout the day these stories keep coming and go on and on, bands coming by telling us why they support KAB, person after person coming by just to show support! I'm grateful and blessed everyday to do this work, Thank you all or all the support!!!! as Erica says... "I'm a hugger not a hater"

The Warped Tour is the amazing place. It's a beautiful sanctuary of freedom and expression, the tour itself operates like one huge family and the energy extends out to all who attend.

BREAST DEFENSE OPENING NIGHT PHOTOS

The Opening was last night for the Breast Defense show in Las Vegas.
Keep A Breast and the Burlesque Hall of Fame presented the exhibition of "Glamour Girls" breast casts, painted by today's best artists.
This show was great to work on because these women are amazing examples of beauty in all shapes, sizes and ages. The Burlesque community is a very tight knit group of people that KAB is proud to be a part of. Thanks to the Fallout gallery, all the performers, and artists for making this exhibition so special.
The casts will be on view at the Fallout gallery for the month, The exhibition will grow a little is size over the next year, the show will travel to a few more cities, to finally land in Los Angeles next spring!

Come support KAB, local talent and local business! Look for the pink boobies! ballons on coast HWY 101. Oh yeah! and we will have a rafflle for a beach cruizer from ELECTRA.
